About the Plant:
Helichrysum Italicum is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. It is sometimes called the Curry Plant because of the strong smell of its leaves. This flowering plant is a small, bushy, evergreen sub-shrub. The stems are woody at the base, with narrow downy silver-white leaves, has clusters of small flowers, and grows no higher than 2 feet in height. The clusters of yellow flowers are produced in summer, they retain their color after picking and are used in dried flower arrangements.
This plant is sometimes used as a spice. Although called "Curry Plant" and smelling like Curry powder, it is not related with this mixture of spices, nor with the Curry Tree (Murraya koenigii). And it is not used as Masala for Curry dishes either. Rather, it has a resinous, somewhat bitter aroma reminiscent of sage or wormwood. The young shoots and leaves are often used stewed in Mediterranean meat, fish, or vegetable dishes until they have imparted their flavor, and are removed before serving.
Where It Grows:
This variety of Helichrysum thrives in full sun. It also loves well-drained soils which is why it grows on dry, rocky, or sandy ground around the Mediterranean. Helichrysum is native to the Mediterranean region (mostly France, Italy, Bosnia, and Croatia), but Serotinum Helichrysum is native to an island of France called Corsica and an island of Italy called Sardinia.

Heals cuts and scars better than normal drugs (e.g. Neosporin)
Helichrysum has become my family's favourite oil, because of its usefulness. I can't say enough about it, and my wife and I recommend it to everyone. Over the years, it has healed our various cuts and scars like magic. There are manufactured cremes on the market which claim to do the same thing, but with Helichrysum, there's no reason for us to look elsewhere. Most recently, I accidentally sliced off part of my fingertip with a carpet knife. It was just the skin (not to the bone, no veins etc.), but it wasn't a pleasant experience. I applied Helichrysum to it 2-3 times each day, and the substantial piece of missing skin grew back quickly and fully, with NO SCAR. Remember when you were a kid, and you healed quickly? Helichrysum lets you heal like that again.
