About the Plant:

Moroccan Blue Chamomile is often mistakenly believed to be a type of Chamomile. Despite having Chamomile in the name and similar effects to Chamomile, Moroccan Blue Chamomile is actually a Tansy. It grows up to 3 feet high with many branches, hairy leaves, and tubular flowers.

The aroma of Moroccan Blue Chamomile Essential Oil is similar to German Blue Chamomile, but much sweeter. On the other hand, it is more spicy and earthy than the aroma of Roman Chamomile. Moroccan Blue Chamomile Essential Oil is also thick and inky blue like German Blue Chamomile, although the aroma has more of an herbal/floral freshness.

Where it Grows:

Chamomile Moroccan Blue Organic Essential Oil is native to northwest Africa and southern Spain. It is also found growing in Israel and throughout the Mediterranean region. Amrita® Aromatherapy is proud to carry Chamomile Moroccan Blue from Morocco.

Traditional Uses:

“There is a great deal of confusion surrounding this oil. Often it is treated as a chamomile, and it is not. Tansy comes from the Greek athanaton meaning immortal. It was used to preserve dead bodies.” Gritman
