Barbe Jo Asks:

Do you recommend keeping organic rose otto essential oil in the refrigerator?

Dr. Streicher Answers:

Dear Barbe Jo,

As long as you use your essential oils within a reasonable amount of time, there is no need to put them into the fridge. Rose oil is not among the faster deteriorating oils; citrus and conifers are. But if you use up a bottle only over many months, like you may do with rose oil because it is so expensive, you will end up with little essential oil and a lot of air in the bottle. If you keep that longer it is good to put it into the fridge, because the large amount of air accelerates oxidation. There is no difference between organic and conventional in that respect. Rose oil will solidify in the fridge. There is no harm to that.
